Capitol Region Debate League
CRDL hosts speech and debate competitions for Sacramento-area middle schoolers (and ambitious elementary schoolers). CRDL’s debate events use the Middle School Parliamentary Debate Program (MSPDP) format, as outlined on the MSPDP website. CRDL also offers several speech categories.
CRDL hosts in-person competitions at its member schools a few times each semester.
You can find CRDL speech and debate competitions on Tabroom.com.
For more information, please email the CRDL contacts listed on the Tabroom invitaton or use CVFL’s Contact Us page (we’re happy to redirect requests to the right parties).
Sacramento County Office of Education (SCOE)
SCOE is a government office that aims to supplement educational services offered by Sacramento County schools.
Notably, SCOE organizes the annual Gordon D Schaber Mock Trial competition. The winner of this Mock Trial competition qualifies to the state tournament.
Although CVFL does not facilitate mock trial competitions, many of the skillsets of Mock Trial and Speech and Debate overlap, and students are able to participate in both activities, and will earn NSDA points for each.
