2009 CVFL CHAMPIONS

The Central Cal Crusaders won the 2009 CVFL Championship  with a score of 20 to 7 in the best game this valley has seen since the Fresno Bandits of the 90s ran the country.  Both teams were loaded with talent and it showed as big plays and big hits had the crowd of 500 fans going crazy until the final whistle.  The Crusaders were led QB Johnny Elizalde who threw the first touchdown of the game to Howard Maxwell on a 4th down play.   The second score came from running back Shawn William who smashed his way into the endzone giving the Crusaders a 14 point lead with 2 minutes left in the half. The Thunder charged back quickly with a 70 yard drive, and with 30 seconds left in the half, the Thunder found themselves on the 8 yard line. But the Crusaders held strong as Ralphy Ortega intercepted a touchdown pass attempt and kept the 14 point lead alive for the Crusaders at half.   The Thunder responded quickly on their first possession of the third quarter with a 60 yard drive capped off by a 40 yard TD pass from Laton Johnson to Jeremy Davis. With a score of 14-7 going into the 4th quarter, the two teams continued to trade punches. A TD pass from Elizalde to 19-year-old phenom, Trunell "Future" Mcmillan was the final blow and the Crusaders rolled on to win the CVFL Championship 20 -7.

The Crusaders will now represent the Central Valley Football League in the Minor League Football Alliance Spring AA National Championship against the Twin City Cougars.

"Sic Deus dilexit mundum,..."Jn 3:16

"The Lord is the eternal God, creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint nor grow weary, and his knowledge is beyond scrutiny.

He gives strength to the fainting; for the weak he makes strong. Though young men faint and grow weary, and youths stagger and fall, t hey that hope in the Lord will renew their strength, they will soar as with eagles' wings;

They will run and not grow weary, walk and not grow faint.” Isa 40: 28-31
