Our Mission

The Mission of CVFL is to help students find themselves. Speech and debate provides students an opportunity to find their inner passions and gives them a voice to express it. It develop skills in critical thinking, organization, persuasion and communication. Students learn to reflect and improve themselves through collaboration with their peers and members of their league.

Our league is now using the Remind App to ensure equal-access communication before, during, and after tournaments. CVFL Tabroom will use the Remind App to announce room changes, posting changes, locate competitors and help communicate with judges!

Active teams

This year we welcomed two new teams to the compete during the CVFL Season. We are always looking to help new teams form and inactive teams compete.

Competition Categories

Speech and Debate encompasses a large variety of competition styles. There are over 18 ways a student can compete and represent their school.

11+

League Competitions

There are six league Speech and Debate tournaments, two CHSSA State Qualifiers, NSDA Qualifier and CHSSA State there are 11 competitions.

Parents

Many parents have questions about how and why students should get involved in Speech and Debate. Please visit our Judges link below to learn more about judging at tournaments.

Students

Students must attend or be attached to a participating, dues-paying school within the CVFl in order to compete. Students are expected to represent their school’s in accordance with their own school’s student code of conduct. Students can compete in any event that they chose and can compete in more than one event throughout the season.

Coaches

Coaches are the leaders of each team. They can be active teachers or advisors at each school. If you would like to be a coach, please consult your administration on the rules behind how each team is to be governed. Adminsitration

Each school and school district has their own rules as to how competitive teams work. Administrators need t0 know that a team exists since principals or other administration are required to sign CHSSA forms which all a team to participate at the state and national level.
